Replacing the internal doors in your home

Replacing the internal doors in your home

If you want to revamp your home on a budget then one easy way to make a big difference is to replace any old or damaged doors. If you have the wooden internal doors that are plain with no panelling, then upgrading them to more modern ones can make the room look newer and fresher.

When it comes to buying internal doors, you can buy them new or you can choose second hand doors. New you can expect to pay around £40 per door but if you buy them second hand you can often pay around £10 each. Often second hand doors will come up looking lovely with a wipe over of a bit of Cif but if they are scratched then you may need to give them a quick sand down and lick of paint.

You do need to double check all the sizes before you buy new doors and you do not wan to have to replace all the door frames too. Sometimes doors may have been cut down so you need to make sure they are not going to be too small. If they are a little bit too big you can normally plane them to take a bit of the wood off.
